I think most of us don’t exercise because it’s boring and scary, not difficult. I strongly believe your exercise sessions should be something to look forward to and be excited about, not a chore you dread.
In my training I focus on functional movements, balance and joint stability (no jumping jacks!).. I make sure that my clients have several tools in their back pocket to address their issues. I love teaching ‘red light exercises’ - things you can do anytime, anywhere with little or no equipment. Simple things you can build into your day, because for some things one minute ten times a day will be way more helpful than ten minutes once a day.
You dont wake up with the same body every day. For this reason, I always show my clients how to vary your exercises to add support or increase difficulty, based on how you're doing that day. I focus on teaching you how to know when to dial it back and when to push a little more.
“No pain no gain” is dead wrong, exercise shouldn’t hurt. It should be uncomfortable, but that is different. I Always show my clients how to listen to their body’s signals - pain, muscle failure, posture, core stability - and only operate in the learning zone, where you are challenged but safe. Once you learn to do this you can confidently increase the difficulty, and move forward without fear and setbacks.
